Bob Hooper was born in Detroit, Michigan and currently lives and works in the greater Chicago area. Bob is a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship for Creative Arts, US & Canada and a Rome Prize Fellowship in Painting from the American Academy in Rome. He has also been awarded a Pollock/Krasner Foundation Grant for his work and a grant from the John Anson Kittredge Fund.
Bob’s work is currently on view in a solo exhibition at 65GRAND Gallery, Chicago and was recently shown in a solo show at Regards Gallery, Chicago and a group show with Good Weather. His work was previously represented by the Genovese/Sullivan Gallery in Boston.
His work is in the collections of the Hunter Museum of American Art and the Rose Art Museum, as well in private collections.
Bob received his MFA from the Yale University School of Art and his BFA from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. He also attended the New York Studio School.
In addition to his studio work, Bob has taught graduate and undergraduate art students at the University of Chicago, Brandeis University and the University of Indiana, Bloomington. He has been a guest critic and lecturer at colleges including the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Boston University, Wellesley College and Bates College.
